SUPPORT MARIN COMMUNITY FARM STAND PROPOSAL FOR FAIRFAX ORGANIC FARM STAND & CSA

3/4/2013

Dear Friends,

The Town of Fairfax has recently called for proposals for the operation, management and marketing of Fairfax's Wednesday Certified Market. The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) has indicated that they will no longer be able to operate the Market in Fairfax.

I have submitted our proposal
for the Fairfax Organic Farm Stand & CSA.

The Town Council of Fairfax meets this Wednesday March 6th, 2013 at 7:00PM at 46 Park Road to consider proposals from the community.

Please support us in launching a new organic farm stand in Fairfax!
You can write directly to me at james@communityfarmstands.com or post your comments directly on our blog.

The Agenda for the Town Council is available online (please see item 20).
Thanks again for your help in supporting this project.

Best regards,

James Baum

I think it is important ( on so many levels) for Fairfax to have a community farm stand!

In addition to having fresh, organic fruits, veggies and other local products available to the community- having the stand also serves us socially and as a gathering place to interact with other residents .

Please keep our farm stand in Fairfax!!

Thank you

Carolyn

I wanted to state publicly that I have been purchasing wonderful, local and fresh produce and local food items from James Baum's farm stands for years now. I believe he would make a wonderful, and obvious and logical choice to take over management of the Fairfax Wednesday Farmers' Market. My family and I have frequented and been a part of several of the Marin farmers' markets and feel that James' integrity, ingenuity, business acumen, persistence, knowledge and great attitude would make him and his organization a great management team for Fairfax.

I LOVE that Marin County Farm Stands food comes from MARIN local farmers. I have also been very impressed with the quality of everything I have purchased there and think Jame's is friendly, charming and well informed about everything he sells. I would be heartbroken to not have a Farmer's Market in my neighborhood and think what James has to offer is perfect for Fairfax. I was planning on coming to the meeting, but just found out I have to work until midnight. I will be there in spirit!

Jim Baum's community farm stand would be a boon to Fairfax. In addition to our superb Good Earth, an outdoor, evening common gathering place supports all those values that make Fairfax, well..... Fairfax! Supporting very local, organic farmers, while supporting the health and well being of our local community. Everybody wins.

Dear James,
Having known you for at least 10 years now and seen you run farm stands in many different locations, including my current neighborhood of Woodacre, I know that you would be provide an extremely professional and wonderful farm stand in Fairfax. Your commitment to making the freshest local and seasonal products available to small communities has always been evident. I know that people have made their trips to the Fairfax Farmer's Market a weekly ritual and you are an ideal candidate to carry on this tradition.

Best Regards,

Dear James,
I hope that your proposal for operating Marin Community Farm Stand will be accepted by the town of Fairfax on Wednesday. I cannot come to the meeting, but I am sure Fairfax would be pleased to have you.

I appreciate that your produce is always fresh and varied by the season. The fruits, veggies and cheeses are locally produced. Your farm stands are an asset and valuable resource to the Marin community.

Thank you.

Nancy

Vote Yes for Community Farm Stands

San Anselmo downtown business has prospered as those coming to our square to visit the community farm stand also shop the surrounding area

The Community Farm Stands supplement national efforts to introduce school children to a diet rich in fruits and vegetables to improve health

To reduce costs of national healthcare for an increased population, it is imperative that support be increased for local Farm Stands

VOTE YES TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY FARM STANDS CURRENT PROPOSAL

Hi James,
I cannot believe that Fairfax isn't doing farmers market this year! What a travesty! If you can bring fresh produce in, that would be a great compromise! Thanks again for all your hard work!

Hi James,

I think many people will be upset by this news - the FX Farmer's market is wildly popular and one of Fairfax's most lively and compelling community events. i certainly hope there can be a way for you to step in and offer something similar to what has been in existence.

Unfortunately I injured my foot a few days ago and it's pretty painful still, so I probably won't be able to attend the town council meeting.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with this endeavor - you seem like the perfect man for the job - that is if you want it!
